Virginia Medical Cannabis Sales Top $15M in January

Virginia medical cannabis sales totaled about $15.08 million in January, according to state Cannabis Control Board data included in a newly launched dashboard. The data shows medical cannabis sales in the state has remained steady over the last six months, reaching $15.18 million in August 2025, $13.83 million in September, $15.15 million in October, $14.41 million in November, and $15.62 million in December. 

Flower remained the most popular product category in the state in January, comprising $6.55 million in sales, while concentrates comprised $5.03 million, edible sales totaled $2.55 million, and shake and trim sales totaling about $0.92 million.  

The average price per gram in Virginia’s medical cannabis program was $10.20 in January, which was up slightly from September ($9.67), October ($9.94), November ($9.54), and December ($9.75) 2025. 

In January, there were 126,706 total transactions in the state’s medical cannabis program. 

The new dashboard reports that 7,669 medical cannabis plants were harvested in January, bringing the total to 50,624 since August 2025.  

In January, 1,216,287 grams were packaged in the state – the fewest in the preceding five months, during which 2,647,928 grams were packaged in August, 2,284,605 grams were packaged in September, 2,326,401 grams were packaged in October, 2,013, 286 grams were packaged in November, and 2,802893 grams were packaged in December.
